Jordan made an appearance at the reception...

Only three days until I talk to my sweet missionary.
It's been six months since I've heard his voice. I can't wait.

Bloggerazzi

The Blogging Mafia Family is alive and well in Boise. Ilene is totally representing as a member of the Boise Mob family. She is the best Bloggerazzi. Go check out her adventure. She looks too innocent to be involved in espionage. She even called me with her report. She may be sorry I have her phone number now...
Many thanks Ilene. I bow to your superior blogging skills and kiss your mafia ring.
In his e-mail yesterday, Elder Jordan said, "I got the treats from your blogger friend. Tell her thank you for me. They are delicious."

If you can call it that. More like training heels.

Missionary Monday

This is a portion of Elder J's email. This first story is for all you bloggers out there. We had stake conference on Sunday, and we got there early. This lady walked up to me in the hall. She said, "I'm a blogstocker", I knew what she was talking about. She said she's in one of the wards we cover, and that she has seen mom's blog. She said she saw a picture of me on Mom's blog, so that's how she knew who I was. It was pretty funny and kind of crazy. haha.

This is Robin's Mom he refers to. See last post. When I started blogging I never dreamed I would make friends who could check up on my boy for me. An unexpected blog benefit.

My missionary's Christmas has been sent. I love flat rate boxes. We may have gone a little overboard...

Fashion Friday

Today is all about animal print. Sometimes just a touch of it is all you need. When you feel bold, a cardigan is fierce.
I love these animal print belts from the archives.

This little bag is great to take out on date night.

This belt elevates my black tee and khakis Mom uniform to chic.

Don't be afraid to try a little animal style...now I'm craving an In-N-Out hamburger, animal style.
Have you tried the fries animal style? YUM.

No animals were harmed for this blog post.

Shoesday Thwarted

Let's enjoy a favorite handbag.
Orange is a nice pop of color and goes with more than you would think. I found this little beauty in Venice. Those Italians know leather. It is butter soft and reversable. Yes, two bags in one. Cream suede interior. Love it.
It's just not Tuesday without Shoesday. The power went out Monday night so I was unable to post. At least I wasn't in the elevator. Now I've misplaced the camera.

Missionary Monday

What do basketball and Kung Fu Panda have to do with Zone Conference...these were the activities at Elder Jordan's last ZC. They had a basketball tournament and watched Kung Fu Panda. We never had ZConferences that were that fun in Canada.
"I would love to deliver a package of goodies to him." These are the words of Ilene another member of the blogging mafia. I am still shocked at this thoughtful and generous offer. Esspecially after the roadtrip she had. She is a good woman.

I Believe

Family portrait
We got this letter in the mail yesterday. It should have been marked, "Don't open til Christmas"
as it contained the most wonderful gift. A written testimony. My fondest wish revealed. As a mom the one thing I've always hoped for is that my children will come to know and love the Lord, Jesus Christ. He knows. I was a crying mess as I read his full page, heartfelt words. He has a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and is willing to sacrifice two years to share this good news with the people of Boise. He will miss his brothers wedding and Christmas with his family because he believes. As much as I miss him,I couldn't be happier because I believe too.

My boy ...is a man.

Fashion Friday

Let's talk about cardigans. This is not your mother's sweater, although I do own some fabulous vintage cashmere cardigans. Another post for another day. I am a recovering hoodie addict. Let's face it sometimes they look schlumpy. As a woman of mystery, I like to keep people guessing my identity. A hoodie screams suburban stay at home mom. Maybe I want to pretend like I'm a career woman, jet-setter or Posh Spice. So, with the same tank top and jeans I show you how I transform my look.
The picture doesn't do it justice. This cardi has a silver thread woven through the grey. I love a little sparkle for daytime to shake things up. It has pockets and a mid thigh length. It would be cute for a holiday party or grocery shopping, you know to play the mystery woman game.
My faux Lily Pulitzer cardi makes me smile with it's paisley pink, preppiness. It has the air of east coast country club. Ladies who lunch and plan charitable balls wear this kind of look.

My aubergine cardi has a trendy cut and great sleeves. I copied my young cute sister. She owns it in brown. It makes me feel hip and 37 instead of 47.
I still wear my hoodies but will be sporting cardigans this winter to switch it up. I want to look polished instead of schlumpy.

Holly Jolly Melancholy

This box represents 22 Christmases spent with our oldest baby boy Evan. This will be the last year he puts them on our tree. Next year they will deck their own halls. Jordy's ornaments are on display and we long for Christmas Day to talk to him. That's all I want for Christmas is to hear his voice.
The wedding is a nice distraction from other things...
Tomorrow my breast friend Merrilee starts chemo for breast cancer.
Her new favorite Carol is...
I'll be bald for Christmas.
You can count on me
Please send wigs and do a jig
and presents under the tree
Christmas Eve will find me where the love light gleams
I'll be bald for Christmas, If only it were a dream.
We like dark humor.
My favorite Carol I wrote last year...
Oh Holy Crap the sky is brightly shining it is the night of our dear brother's death
Long lay the world in sin and error pining til he appeared and the crowd heard him laugh
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices for yonder comes a young and spunky guy.
Fall on your knees oh hear the angel voices
Oh night divine, oh crap when Scotty died, oh night divine, oh crap, oh night divine.
Maybe irreverant but this is how I cope. On Dec 23rd I will be singing this and eating his favorite treat. Nut Goodies I ordered them from Minnesota.
I haven't slept in two nights. With sleep aids. Just a couple of naps. I guess I'll go with the Scarlet philosophy . (Say it with a southern accent) "I'll go home and I'll think of somehow to get to sleep
Afterall, tomorrow is another day."
I need a therapist, my head just might explode.
I really need to sleep in heavenly peace...keep your fingers crossed.

Shoesday

This is my hottest pair of shoes. Sadly, I can no longer wear them.
I'm seated in these pictures.

Brynn is happy...they fit her.

If you want to see more fabulous shoes go here.
She deserves all the credit for Shoesday.
I copied her. It's the best form of flattery.

Missionary Monday

There's been a sighting...
Thanks to our blogging mafia circle as Andrea named us, Elder Jordan has been spotted in North Boise. It made my day, actually my week! Robin said...
My mom said that he was at her ward on Sunday (at least we know he is going to church) and she met him! I am sure she will feed him. She loves the missionaries.

Linda said...
He was greeting members at our chapel door Sunday! I shook hands with him & introduced myself, then a few minutes later when my husband arrived I introduced them. He has a great handshake and a ready smile. I hope he wasn't just there for one week & is permanently assigned to Hillside Ward. It will be fun to tell him that my daughter is Robin and that we both read your blog. I will try to remember to take my camera to church with me on Sunday so that I can send you a picture of him in action. We will be leaving for 5 weeks, but when we return mid January we'll feed him if he's still in our stake.

Thanks girls! You are the best blogging mafia circle ever. I hope to be able to return the kindness someday soon.
