Shoesday

Let's imagine that it is a crisp cool autumn day instead of the 80 degrees we've been enduring.
A perfect time to pull out these grey and navy suede shoes.

Missionary Monday

Elder J was transferred to Jerome. He describes it best. "there's like a 7 to 1 cow to people ratio here, and it smells bad, like cows and dairy farms, but whatever. i guess we cover a town called hazelton. we get 1575 miles so it's the biggest area i've been in. and has the least amount of people. about 10,000 so that's 70,000 cows. Holy cow!"

Shab to Fab

You've been asking where I get my clothes so I will do a few posts to break it down. pink tank-downeast outfitters
grey tee-the loft
white cardi-old navy
jeans-Gap
flats-Coach Nordstrom
skinny pink belt-urban outfitters
earrings-brass plum Nordstrom
bracelet-savvygirl

Nothing is new. Most of it was purchased this past year except for the bracelet and belt which are from the archives. It really is about the concept. You can find these items at any price point.
Give it a try. Link back so I can see how you interpret this formula.

Fashion Friday

I love fashion blogs. You look fab is a good one although there are not enough pictures for my taste. Last week she shared her fool proof formula for fall. I took the challenge and have been sporting a different version all week.

Today we will focus on a tried and true mom uniform.

Here is the formula-

Embellished t-shirt+cardigan+jeans +flats=cute

It will take you just about anywhere, lunch with friends, errands, even just hangin out at home.

Sequins for day. Yes please.

This navy blue tee has sequins and beads at the neckline. With embellished tees you can skip a necklace and just add earrings a huge ring and a bracelet or five...if you are me.

I'm trying to mix up my color combos. cobalt blue with black. It looked better in person with the washed out jeans.

Super dark denim straight leg jeans. They look black in the picture. I may inherit this super cute tee I stole from Brynn. She's creeped out that I added it to my mom outfit. Go me.

Black ballet flats are timeless. I love the fat grosgrain ribbon bows but I love the lining even more.

Check out the traveling shoes. They are on another journey. Happy trails.

Missionary Monday

"I'm glad to go back to the city. I love being around people. Mom, you’re gonna be in shock when I get home because I almost talk as much as you now. I have to make up for quiet comps that say 20 words a day so it's all good."
Let's just say that before his mission Elder Jordan did not waste his words. There was a lot of grunting. He's not shy, more like the strong silent type...I'll believe it when I hear it. Only two more months until we talk to him.
In other news, I got a phone call from his Dr in Idaho. Elder J has weekly allergy shots to help keep him healthy. He has asthma too. We discussed his health and it was so nice to get a report from his allergist. He has had the same Dr his entire mission and he has helped to keep Jordan well which is no small feat. Now if he can make it through this stinkin flu season...he is like a walking petri dish.

Fashion Friday

Here's the skinny... My answer to leggings, which I refuse to wear. Skinny jeans.
They work well with flats and will be easy to tuck into boots.
I bought a pair two years ago that are a bit different.
If you are afraid of this look just buy a size bigger and you can ease into this style.

You shall walk and not faint.

I figured it was time for a little health update. I am feeling great, seriously great.
When we went away for our staycation weekend I walked all over the place. I've gained almost 10 pounds which helps.
I am vertical more often and I have even started "working out" on my grand people pedals.
I'm up to 30 minutes.
Thanks to new Dr's and drug protocol I am making progress.

I still require lots of sleep and need to stay hydrated but I haven't landed on my butt in months.
I am able to go on outings and make dinner...if you count heating stuff up in the oven which I totally do.
We did bring the wheelchair for a stroll down the boardwalk.
It feels so good to feel good.

Fudgey and fabulous. The buttons look like giant Junior Mints.
I like the mix of suede and patent leather.

Silver

25
Today is our anniversary.
Our hair and rings have gone silver.
A shiny and precious metal that reflects the memories we share.
This weekend we made some more on our lovely staycation.
We stayed at an amazing beach house.
It felt like we were a million miles away.
Watching dolphins jump in the surf. Listening to the rhythm of the waves.

Feeling the sea breeze on our faces.
Tasting delicious food.
Come to mama little chocolate chip cupcake with chocolate mint icing.
Watching beautiful sunsets.

Happy Anniversary.
Here's to 25 more.

Fashion Friday

Inspired by the JCrew catalog... This is what it would look like if they had 48 year old models.
I just look cranky when I try to do the no smile fierce face...so I smiled.

I shopped my closet. You know you have the look right when your neck hurts from all the necklaces. I used a flower pin I've had for a few years. Those neon socks are too much for this old mom.

And most importantly, I didn't fall over.
Will someone please shoot me? My photographer is really sick of me.

Dark chocolate with cream dots...mmmm. I can't believe I've never featured these before.
Brynn is wearing them in the family picture on the side bar.

Missionary Monday

Here is Elder Jordy's take on General Conference. Last week he was hoping to watch conference on a sweet TV. "Nothin like old men in high def." He does have a spiritual side but his irreverent side is so delightful.

Fashion Friday

I often take outfit inspirations from single items. A belt, cool shoes or a great sweater.
This week I was inspired by a package in the mail. My friend Tawnya sent me some great earrings she designed. She is young and hip. I like her style.
My outfits were planned around earrings.
I give you...pink.
The middle bead is sparkly silver like a disco ball.

Black is not my color. Man, I look tired.
Groovy green.
I spilled water on my sweater. I adore big earrings. There is a little wooden bead on the bottom and the wire is copper.
These cool copper beauties are being worn by my teen today. I've gotta keep my eye on them.
Don't you love how I hung them on my lamp shades. I created a new home decor item. I may just leave them there. I take really bad pictures of myself.
Tom asked why I've been looking so cute lately and do I have a boyfriend?
Amazing what a new pair of earrings will do.
Here is my boyfriend...

jeans. I'm falling in love.
I look like a giant. My photographer is sick of me.
One more pair of earrings that I'll wear this weekend. Pink and brown perfection.
