Shoesday

I will be sporting these apple green shoes on the BYU campus this week.
I will be the one with the sexy blue walker.
This is possibly the most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever owned.
I have them in taupe as well, but I have pretty much trashed that pair.
When I saw them at Marshall's for half the regular price I snatched them up.

Missionary Monday

They even let Elder Jordy join in all their redneck games... "He has a bunch of chickens in his backyard. We were playing with his chickens the other day. We would throw them up in the air and they can just barely fly so it's pretty funny. And we run around and try to catch them. I got my picture with one of the chickens."

Now if he would just send me those pictures. Currently, I am concerned about bird flu and swine flu.

Fashion Friday

Ruffles and more ruffles.
Look who came for a visit. Natalie is my newest and youngest friend.
She was born on Monday.
Holding this tiny beauty and smelling her sweetness was the highlight of my week.
Thanks Melissa for bringing her over.
Now you have to rename your blog.

Ruffles never looked better.
She is one stylish babe.

If you are over the age of 5 you should only wear one ruffled item at a time.
I wouldn't want anyone to get a fashion violation fine.

Miss USA Controversy

Unless you live under a rock, you've heard of the controversy surrounding the Miss USA pageant. But wait, the story gets better. Miss North Carolina who was crowned on Sunday night was quoted on MSN, "It feels really natural," Dalton said of her win. "I've worked so hard to be here and this has been my lifelong dream and it's finally here. And whoever knew you could win in a turquoise gown?"
Four of the top five wore white gowns...and I thought I was shallow.
Another brilliant woman to represent our country.

Earth Day

In honor of Earth Day we drained and refilled our pool. And I've been running the air conditioner for three days.

Because I can't stop myself

Lance has nothing on Tom.
Mr. Business Boy

The Newlyweds

We are a scary bunch.

Jordy is my favorite.
I'm not sure Jenni knew what she was getting into.
Are you tired of this yet?
I'm not.

Shoesday

Ruffles are everywhere this season from cardigans to clutches.
Let's not forget footwear.

Missionary Monday

Today I will focus on another missionary in our family.
She may not be a full-time missionary but that doesn't stop this girl.
She wears a Power in Purity t-shirt to practice.
Her team mates yell "Mormon Power!" when she is on the field.
Her friends know who she is and what she believes.
She is not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Brynn has a friend who is taking the missionary discussions.
She has been attending the lessons with this girl.
Brynn's eyes light up when she shares her experiences as she watches her friend come unto Christ.

She is an example of the believers.

Fashion Friday

Argyle Style I've been wearing argyle since I was 15.
My High School uniform consisted of a button down oxford shirt,
khaki pants, a Crazy Horse cable knit sweater tied around my shoulders,
argyle knee highs and Topsiders.
I loved wearing argyle knee socks with shorts and wool skirts.
I even wore pink and grey argyle socks on my mission with a grey skirt and a pink turtle neck.
I've owned many an argyle sweater vest and crewneck as well.
When my boys were little I decked them out in argyle. I still buy them argyle sweaters.
This trend is a classic and one that will never die.
In the 70's I wore my argyle sweaters with a simple strand of pearls.
Now, I prefer chunky necklaces.
My love of argyle will never die.
In my attempt to cover my under eye circles I have created a racoon look.
What's up with my concealer? I don't notice it in person only in pictures.
Stupid Lancome lady.

Hot Prowl

There has been a home invasion in my neighborhood.
The place was ransacked and destroyed leaving the family homeless...

They are determined to rebuild.
Talk about your empty nest.

Makeover

I've been searching for a new look for spring.
This is middle age Barbie.
I have way too much time on my hands.

This site has been amusing me.

Talk about a makeover.

Shoesday

The temperature has been rising so it is time to pull out the sandals. I love this dark chocolate, sparkly pair.
Plus they match my pedi.

I bought these babies in Bermuda.
Can I just say my favorite thing about that island is the dress code.
Swimwear is only acceptable poolside or on the beach.
It is inappropriate to wear short shorts, thus the name of Bermuda shorts.
You can however wear Bermuda shorts to a formal occassion, with a bow tie.
Modesty is in style on the island. How refreshing.

Missionary Monday

Random picture from a baptism. I love this guy's enthusiasm. In Jordan's e-mail last week he told of an experience he had while teaching a lesson...
They said the opening prayer and they both said Hail Mary at the end. I wanted to yell "Touch Down".

That's my boy.

Fashion Friday

It is spring break and we are having April showers today. Good excuse to pull out some cute cool weather fashions.
I love the toggles on this jacket.

Giving Back

For Christmas I received the coolest gift from my friend Merrilee.
It was a gift card to Kiva. Have you heard of Kiva?
This organization provides micro loans to help people all over the world escape poverty.
This is Mwatanu she is from Tanzania.
She wants funds to buy hair extensions to sell in her beauty salon.
She also wants to buy shoes and clothes to sell in her shop.
Hello, this is right up my alley as a former hair stylist. Plus the shoes are a delightful bonus.
Mwatanu is married with 5 children. She works 12 hour days, 7 days a week.
I think she is amazing and wish I could meet her.
Her loan is fully funded now.
When the loan is repaid I will be able to reinvest in another person.
It doesn't take much money to make a big difference. Notice her bare feet.

Racing

Tom competed in the Ironman 70.3 California race on Saturday.
He beat his record from last year. Laura won the race for the shoes.
In record breaking time she came yesterday and collected her prize.
This girl is serious.
She will be sharing with Michelle.

Shoesday

The spring cleaning edition. Everything must go. If you are a size 9 come over.
I have all your footwear needs covered.
That's right two bags of shoes.

I guess I should be ashamed but I'm not.
Sunday during General Conference Jose Teixeira gave a message on the "Power to shoes."
It was my favorite talk.

You may recall I received a gift card some time ago.
I just purchased these little lovelies.
I love the insides as much as the outside. Metallic makes me happy.

Now I will plan my outfits around my shoes.
Here is a Shoesday bonus.
Black sequin Pumas
and baby Vans.

Missionary Monday

Welcome to the Missionary Hall of Fame.
This board represents our first missionary who served in the Oklahoma Tulsa mission. This is Elder Jordan's bulletin board.

It is a shrine I created to keep track of the areas he lives in.
My new favorite thing is to look up his address on google maps.
I can see the house he lives in and stroll around the streets.
It's the next best thing to visiting him.

I hope some day to add a third bulletin board to this wall.
Sister Brynn has a nice ring to it.

Gourmet Dinner

The fabulous Linda has out done herself.
She cooked a gourmet meal for the missionaries.
Check out her blog for the full menu and recipes.
Plus her grand daughter Hannah was there.
Her Mom is Robin one of the Bossy sisters.

I know my boy was happy. That kid enjoys a home cooked meal.
Jordan said he didn't realize there are so many bloggers out there.
I told him we are taking over the world, one blog at a time.

Edit

Those big grins mark the beginning of spring break and the end of the dreaded Junior paper.
The beautiful and brilliant Sarah helped Brynn polish up her final draft. Can you guess where Miss Sarah will be attending college next year?

AP English is a beast that the lovely Sarah has mastered as a Senior.
She has been a great mentor for Brynn.

This is my fourth time as a Junior in High School. Only one more year of homework.
Can you hear me cheering?
I'll miss my baby but not the stinkin' homework.

Fashion Friday

Bag Lady edition
I will give the readers what they want and feature the purse of the month.
I give you April... It will come as no surprise that I enjoy a good handbag as much as a good pair of shoes.
This one is a favorite because it is a lovely shade of Tiffany blue.
Franco Sarto is a master at shoe design and handbag design as well.
Everyone needs a basic black or brown bag but don't be shy. Next time you are shopping for a new bag, try a color. You will be surprised at how versatile it is.
