Missionary Monday

My brother in law John is a techno wizard. He created the illustration for this story. This is an excerpt from Jordan's email.
"We were at a member’s house the other day teaching a recent convert. After the lesson their dad said we should come check out the bird he shot that morning. So we went outside and looked at it. One of the boys asked his dad if he could pluck it. So I was watching him do that and he just starts ripping its head off and pulling the wings off. It was pretty gross. Anyways, the boy cleaned it off and cooked it in the oven and we ate it. It tasted like chicken. Well I just thought that was a pretty crazy story. And the family thought it was funny that I had never seen that before."
They may speak the same language in Boise, but it is definitely foreign.

Ok.. in defence of Boise...I lived there for 30 years and not once did I ever see anything like that.

I bet the bird was good!

i'm dying. we moved up here and i had never seen pheasants before. it's been a running joke in our family that i'm hallucinating every time i say i've seen one. i'll be sure to pass elder jordy's picture along to my husband. after all, missionaries don't lie, right?

That's why I think it doesn't matter where you go, every place is "foreign" in their own way. I remember being in the slums of Texas and my companion had this mortifying look on her face. There was a BIG rat running back and forth on the wall behind me. Yep, it doesn't matter where you go, there's always something strange going on. I think I'd rather see the bird than the rat.

He must be getting close to my neck of the woods. The shock factor is wearing off the longer we live here. Sigh...

He isn't in Boise. He is in Kuna.

That is a whole other kind of town.
