Faster than a speeding bullet. More powerful than a locomotive. Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird... It's a plane... It's Ironman!
2.4 mile swim in the Russian River
112 mile bike ride through the vineyards of Santa Rosa
26.2 mile run in 97 degree heat
He finished 8th in his age group. He was the fastest 49 year old at the Vineman.
Diane - Tom is insane! I wish i could do that! I have seen him at the lake many a time and as I was running it one time around (which is a lot) Tom would pass me like two -three times. He must have run around the lake three times for my one time around! He is amazing! I love how you are taking on the Mrs. Ironman title simply by being married to mr. ironman himself! Go Diane!
Oh My gosh Tom your simply amamzing. Seriously I am so proud of you and so jealous that you are accomplishing all this. Definitely and Iron man. You have one amazing hubby Diane....
WOW!!! I used to say that I wanted to do an Iron man before I turned 40. I shouldn't have said that. I'm only 6 years away from that. I'm doing my first sprint distance triathlon on Saturday and I'm afraid it's going to kick my butt. Maybe I'll say I'll do an Olympic distance by then...yeah...that sounds better.
Oh, and don't let anyone jest at calling you Mrs. Iron man. The training is grueling and you had to put up with it, and him not being home. You deserve the title!!
We were up in Santa Rosa too for the vineman Ironman. My good friend was doing it. She is amazing and kind of crazy. We came up to Santa Rosa on the Sunday after she completed it. Wow, is all I can say, and yes you are mrs. Ironman since you were probably waiting around all day and going to different check out points to see him. That is so impressive that he came in 8th for his age, seriously what an accomplishment. Too bad we didnt' run in to you.
Way to go Tom! Watching him get increasingly more into triathlons is very inspiring. I can only hope to be that fit at his age. I personally believe that triathlons are a partnership between the athlete and their supporting spouses. So Diane aka: Mrs. Ironman it is good to have you blogging again.

You got yourself a hottie! You can definately call yourself Mrs Ironman because you have to endure all the muscle aches and blister popping.
NO WAY.
I've never actually known anyone who's done that thing. It blows my mind.
