Missionary Monday

We are now in the 7th inning stretch. This is the longest part of my kid's mission. I will not speak to him for 7 long months. Yesterday's phone call was bitter sweet. I loved hearing his voice. Elder Jordy is happy and healthy. He likes his new area, Meridian North Stake and his new digs. He likes his new companion and they are working well together. He told us a most hilarious story, it seems he was having dinner with an elderly couple and they were talking about the Bible. The man mentioned one of his favorite verses which he said was found in Deuterectomy. Elder Jordan and his companion had the task of not cracking up as the couple did not recognize the faux-pas. It just pains me that it will be 7 long months. So I figure there should be a song...

Take me out to the mission field

Take me out to the crowds

Buy me some white shirts and neck ties

I don't care if they're not quite my size

So it's root root root for the Elders

If they don't baptize it's a shame

And it's one, two long years they're out at the old mission field.

On the bright side, the next time I speak to Elder Jordan will be his 18 month mark
December 25. And next year on Mother's Day he will be weeks away from coming home.

Only two more phone calls...

Those phone calls are ones to treasure. I can't believe he's been out almost a year! Time does fly!

Yay! {I thought about you yesterday & how you were getting your mom phone call.} Two phone calls done, two to go...so he's kind of half way through!

I sure hope he doesn't need a Deuterectomy while on his mission!

Did I mention that Sammy isn't allowed to go on a mission? Or get married? Or go to college? Or, you know, grow up in any sort of way?

2 more calls baby!

I actually thought of you yesterday and was so happy for you!! I wish my son would go somewhere and not talk to me for months so I would be happy to hear his voice. Sigh. BUT...ecstatic for you!!!!

He is five miles away from my house. Yeah, we are in a different stake. Meridian is like a mini Utah valley; lots of Mormons.

But I will still stake him out.

Picture of his new digs will be coming soon...

When I first saw the pictures, I thought you had secretly flown up there to visit him. Glad you at least got the phone call. He really is a handsome missionary!

Wow. Only two more phone calls makes it sound not so far away.

My sister-in-law lives in Nampa by the way. I keep forgetting to ask her the name of her ward in case your son is there. Her name is Laurie Nelson. Will get back to you....
