Opportunity Knocks

Evan has been accepted into the Teach For America program. It is a two year commitment to teach in an inner-city school district. Evan will be a great role model for students that may not have a positive influence in their lives.
He will be teaching in Kansas City Missouri starting in the fall. If it doesn't work out, he can always be a super model.

Evan rocks!

Evan does rock. The model thing is always an option...don't tell him that, though. He's so humble it might embarrass him :)

I'm still sad that they're moving.

I have friends who have done this and loved it...even though it was extremely challenging.

Kansas City is a great city with FAB BBQ and they will be close to lots of other fun cities as well. You'll have to go visit. If you drive you can go by way of I-70 which takes you through Abilene, KS, and the site of Dwight D. Eisenhower's Presidential Library and Museum. You're excited now aren't you?

I have 2 very good friends living in Kansas City. They both talk about how weird the wards are cut in order to have some inner city and some suburbia. Let me know which ward they move into. Hope all goes well for him. What a great guy to take on an assignment like that!

You know, KC is only a few hours from me. I think a visit to both of us is your first order of business...

Ah, the world is laid out before him.

Good luck to them... and to you to have your firstborn out in the big bad world. I don't know what I will do when my boys are old enough to start a career. I hope by that time I will be ready for them to go, right?

What a beautiful family picture. Definitely a "beautiful people" family.

Diane, that is totally AWESOME. I love that your kids are so thoughtful and give back.

He could be a super model, though...he gets that from you. That, "blue steel" he is giving the camera is spot on.
