Sharks, shooting and shwag...oh my!

before
after

The past couple days have been rather eventful. Shark attack at a local beach, bomb and shooting threat at the high school, day of silence and loss of some bling. Bad picture, sad ring. It looks like it lost a tooth!

  • Some of his clients thought maybe Tom was the victim as it was a guy swimming with his tri-athlete team. Luckily, he's out of state and running a marathon.

  • Stupid kids threatened school during state testing week. When first threat was ignored they wrote, seriously, by the next threat. Seriously!

  • Day of Silence is sponsered at the boys old high school by the g^y straight lesbi^n alliance. Don't even get me started about this. The goal is that all students are silent to know what it feels like. I kept my kids home. I am not opposed to their right to celebrate or whatever I just don't want it done on school time. The girls can't even wear their value color bracelets because then they appear to be GSLA members.

  • Sadly, I lost some bling from my ring. Alas, it will be resurrected. I just have to wait.

I need to get out of town. Only 3 days until girl's week!

Seriously! i didn't hear about the threat, but I definitely heard about the shark - we'll be keeping that on the down low from the kids since every summer we have a discussion about how we don't even have those kinds of sharks here so we don't have to be afraid of the water - eek. guess we won't be going to the beach tomorrow ...

Your fingernails are so pretty (in both photos) I didn't notice the missing stone!

Sad, sad ring!

So incredibly sad about the shark attack. We're thinking about going to the beach today (obviously won't be going in the water with my twin 15 month olds!) but I'm not sure if the sand part of the beach will even be open...I guess we'll find out!

I heard about the shark this morning. So surreal!

Sad ring! I hope it comes back better than ever! (this is the good thing about my 15 different wedding rings. The grand total of all of them is about $30 and not so sad if damaged! I'm such a nut case...).

yikes that's all a little crazy, i dislodged one of my little diamonds in my wedding band, so I can't wear right now. So now i just sport my solitaire, which I don't mind. Yeah, get out of town, head east

I heard about the shark attack. Yet another reason I don't like to spend a lot of time in the ocean (without scuba gear, sharks don't like the noise). That's too bad about your ring.

The shark attack is pretty sad. Cary and I talked about it and I've lost my desire to swim in the ocean. The day of silence at the High School is really retarded. Have fun at Women's conference!!!

shark attack, what? I am glad I left when I did. So sad about your ring. The GSLA, what a joke, that would irritate me also.

Yucky week! I am glad your hubby wasn't lunch. :)

Wow...you had an eventful week. Losing a stone is always a good excuse to get a revision. This whole shark attack has renewed my fear of swimming in the ocean. Have a fun week away.

It saddens me to hear that you kept your kids home from a day of silence at school. It doesn't have to be about being of another sexual orientation, but about anyone who has ever been silenced. As a member of the LDS church I would think you would understand about being ostracized, be it now or in the past. Everywhere you go there is someone being silenced. I'm sure if it was a moment of prayer for those same "lost souls" you would be the first in line with your kids in tow.

I was directed to your blog by a dear friend after reading about your attitude towards the day of silence. Let me give you a little bit of insight. I grew up Mormon in fact my father was the Stake President most of my life. I also grew up gay and had to live in silence and shame. Your religion and what you "claim" to represent is so far from love. I know this because I sat in church and listened to people just like you spill the words of discrimination. The hate that drives this country is because of people like you that instead of embracing differences . . by the way I would call Mormons different . . choose to be ignorant and hurt those around you. Your attitude reminds me of growing up and I pray to god that you don't have a gay son because you are the farthest thing from a good example I could imagine.

Interesting comment Crystal and anonymous I have friends and people I love who have chosen this lifestyle. We respect each others views and opinions. I think that my children should be taught reading, writing and arithmetic at school. I prefer values be taught at home. Why is it okay for kids to wear g^y pride shirts to school but, others are suspended for wearing straight pride shirts? Why is there a double standard and why is my freedom of speech not as valuable as yours?!
