Crack of Dawn

We call it the but# crack of dawn. What pray tell am I doing up at this hour?! It's dark and cold outside. The only time I'm up this early is if I'm sick, have had major insomnia, or have an early flight. Tom went out of town so I had to get up to take Brynn to early morning seminary. Her friend recently got her driver's license so no more rides. Not usually a problem for me since Tom takes her. He is in charge of morning parenting and I do night time. My talents lie in staying up late to help with homework, deal with teenage melt downs and monitor people coming and going. Today the delicate balance has been upset. I am not a morning person. I grunt until 10 AM. Tom is cheerful and energetic, he even cooks breakfast for her. So, I'm trying to think of the upside of being up this early...I get to see my lovely daughter's face before school, The Jeff and Jer Showgram (Did you know that 37% of women do not use the bathroom at work. Good thing I work at home), and I stopped at Starbucks for hot chocolate. I'm going back to bed.

Hahaha tha made me laugh. That is nice that tom lets you be the night person and not the morning so I am sure that made it extra hard to get up this morning. I cant feel your pain though I can get up with ease in the morning if I have to but when I dont I definitely sleep until carson does. I think its cause I always had a swim job where I had to be there at 5 in the morning maybe thats why, but I have always had an easier time getting up earlier than staying up late. Take a nap it will make you feel better.

I'm with ya woman. I hate getting up in the morning. Adam loves ro get up and make muffins with the boys. Too bad that's only on Saturdays and Sundays. I have every other day and it's not fun.

Hee! In my last job, I would ALWAYS put off using the bathroom until I could sneak home. Luckily home was across the street, so it made it pretty easy to do.

I should have done a crack of dawn post today too- I was up at 4am with an asthma attack kid.

Something you said made me think. Right now, I do the "morning" parenting and go to bed early and my husband stays up late with the baby. It never crossed my mind that we would have to continue this morning and nighttime parenting beyond these early years, but you're right, when the kiddos are pre-teen and teen, you need a nighttime parent on duty. Guess waht I'm going to be telling my hubby today - You're on duty for the next 20 years!!

I'm up all night and try and sleep in the morning. If my husband does an early a.m. drive with the babies, I'm telling him to stop at Starbucks! Either that or somewhere there's a Diet Coke on tap.

I like what Annemarie told me once. She told her husband to use the bathroom at work so he could get paid for it. Why not?

That is just not right - I hope my hubby has a shorter commute by the time the girls are in seminary because I HATE mornings - I am definitely the night parent (unless you count 7:30 as early, and I do:))

I am NOT a morning person either! I am a night owl. Have you tried the Peppermint Hot Choc.? I still order it even though it's not Christmas. Thanks, you got me craving one!

Have you heard there is a new snickers bar packed with caffeine? Now that's my kind of pick me up.

I'm the night parent, too. Luckily early morning seminary is at our house which means (a) I can't go downstairs anyway so I might as well sleep longer and (b) no early morning seminary rides! Wahoo.

On the down side, I think next year we won't have it here and I have 8 more years of it as my kids enter their teens, one by one. Ouch.

5:45 is way too early to be up. I hate that Kalen has to get up at 6:20(eric wakes him up)then I drive him at 7:00. I do much better if I stay up and get ready for the day instead of going back to bed. Unfortunately it's been more of the going back to bed that I've been doing. Gotta be better!

Hazen is teething/growing/or has another ear infection, so his sleeping schedule has been whiggity whack....needless to say, I laid down for a nap at 9:15 this morning. Unfortunately, it was only 35 minutes- but that's better than nothing, right?
