Missionary Monday

Elder Jeffery Holland visited Boise recently. This is how Jordan described his experience. "It was amazing. One of the best experiences of my life being up close and personal with an apostle of the Lord for 2 hours!. We got to shake his hand too! Elder Holland was totally cracking jokes for the first 5 minutes."

I sent Elder Jordan a new sweater to help keep him warm. My boy knows how I feel about style so this is his fashion report.

"The sweater is awesome and very stylish. Oh mom, I thought you might like to know that Elder Holland was wearing an all pink tie on Sunday. It was sweet!"

Last week Jordan said good-bye to this companion and hello to a brand new missionary. Elder J is staying in North Boise and training a new missionary.

This is his first experience as a senior companion. He will do a great job.

I love Sam stories. They are usually funny but this one is sweet.

We got some great pictures of our missionary.

I sent them to family. After my nephew Sam viewed the photos he said,

"Looking at these pictures makes me think about Jesus." I know Elder Jordan is in the right place at the right time.

I love this picture. It was Christmas Eve 2007.

Evan's first Christmas home since returning from his mission.

The bittersweet memory attatched to this picture is that we had only learned the night before that my brother Scott had passed away.

Rainy day fashion

I love trench coats. They are a classic. They never go out of style.

Since it is raining I get to pull this little blue beauty out of the archives.

How convenient because it has come to my attention that blue is the new aubergine (purple) for spring 2009. Of course blue is a spring staple.

Every year designers bring out their "new nautical" lines which always include navy blue.

I'm feeling blue...in a good way.

I love loafers.

I think because they remind me of my preppy days of penny loafers and tassel loafers.

Even better if they are bronze metallic... and have heel protection like a driving moc.Shut up!

Missionary Cousins

Elder Jordan has a cousin on a mission.

As Elder J has experienced his first white Christmas... Elder Alden is having his first hot winter serving in Manaus Brazil.

He is from Minnesota.While Elder J is living in comfortable homes...

Elder A is longing for a toilet seat.
Elder J is speaking Idahoan and Elder A is learning portuguese.
E. Alden has a native Brazilian as his companion so he will be fluent in no time.
These missionary cousins are having vastly different experiences with the same results.
