Missionary Monday

This is from another baptism but, I had to post a picture.

"Things are going well here in the great potato state of Idaho. We had a baptism on Saturday night. It was for an 18 year old girl named Megan Butler, baptized by her Grandfather.. When we were making the baptism program, Elder Boyes saw that I wasn't doing anything for the baptism so he wrote in "Special Musical Number... Elder Naylor". Then he was going to print it and I said "wait, you have to erase that first" . But then he asked this member if she had any music I could sing for a baptism. So they pulled out a bunch of songs and I looked at them. I tried singing "I know That My Redeemer Lives" and it sounded alright. The Member's daughter was playing the piano and she was way good. So I ended up singing a solo at the baptism and it was pretty scary but I think I sounded alright. "

Some people have been surprised that Jordan sang a solo. He has a beautiful, clear voice. He sang in the choir in High School. But I guess he kept his light under a bushel. He is not really shy, he just prefers to be in the background. My Sis put it perfectly when she said that Jordan has a quiet confidence. I love to see how he is stretching and growing as a missionary. I just wish I could have heard his solo. I love that boy.

first, awesome missionary, just make you so proud. Second love all the yellow things. Third, amazed you can fit into your wedding dress after 24 years that is a great accomplishment for any woman. And your wedding dress is so pretty and timeless you would never know it's 24 years old I mean young. Happy anniversary. And last love the dress choice for the upcoming wedding. You have a good eye. Could you come and be my personal shopper and dresser????

I love that boy, too! We need to send his comp a small tape recorder to record any future solos!

How sweet that he did that! What a good boy!

A solo......good for him. I'd never do that in a million years even if my name was on the program! Sounds like Jordan is doing well.

Quiet confidence is such a great attribute to have. I agree with Annemarie...maybe his companion could tape his next solo. I love that his companion knew he sang well enough to have him solo and just put him on the program. His comp has some confidence, too it sounds like.

Maybe that is why I never served a mission. I could never sing a solo because I stink at singing. There is no light under the singing bushel for me.

That is a sweet experience.

Wow, I had no idea. I can only hope that my boys grow up to be such good missionaries.

I loved reading that story - now when he gets back he'll have to sing more for you :)
