Shoesday

Let's pretend like it's fall shall we... These charcoal grey babies are the equivalent of little puffy clouds.
They will fill the space between my beloved Ugg slippers and Ugg boots.
They will wait patiently in the closet until the temperatures drop or I take a trip up north.
Fluffy little clouds, I'm telling you.

Fashion Friday

I think that hair is a huge part of fashion. As we all know I like to change mine up often. With a new season comes a new hairstyle.
It may be autumn but the thermometer has registered triple digits this week.
Short and sassy.
I really need to work on my posture.

Right before I got my haircut was the first time I wavered on the whole gray hair thing.
Cutting my hair has given me renewed resolve. Much of the color has been cut off. It doesn't seem quite so daunting.
I had a friend ask me why I'm going gray. I said, "why not." Hair is so temporary and color is so easily changed. I'm going to give it a year. I'm four and a half months in. If it looks hideous then I'll just color it. Easy. I only had a a few foils put in along my part this time. I think I'll go shorter next time.

Don't you just love this necklace I got for my birthday.

Missionary Monday

I like to call this picture...
Hear no evil
See no evil
Speak no evil

Words to live by.

I do love the movie posters in the background.

Reflections on 48

Scotty and me

Since my brother Scott passed away unexpectedly at the age of 48 I have come to think of aging in a different light. I'm not afraid of growing old. After all, I've already spent time in a nursing home, used a walker, cane and wheelchair, dealt with chronic illness and had a major break due to osteoporosis.

My throat tightens as I realize I will never get another birthday phone call from my big brother. We would wonder how we got to be as old as our parents. He would tell me all about the latest gadgets and gizmo's. We would talk about politics and his favorite topic, his boys.

I have body parts that are saggy and deflated but my self worth and relationships are growing with age.

I look forward to my golden years filled with travel, laugh lines and grand kids. Birthdays are a gift and a blessing. Aging doesn't scare me. I'm more concerned with living fully. Bring it on.

Missionary Monday

"On Saturday we went to Sonic. My comp is obsessed with that place. I had heard rumors that you could get anything you want there. So I asked the guy if I could get bacon in my caramel milk shake. He said no. When he brought it out he says, "Well I can't put it in there but here you go" and hands me a piece of bacon. So I broke it up and put it in the shake. It was actually pretty good. Then I felt like I was going to have a stroke.

Later that day one of our wards had a corn feed. That's where they barbeque and have tons of corn. I decided Iwould eat 10 ears of corn, just for fun. So I started out with 3, then 3 more, 3 more, and ate the 10th. It was awesome. I think the Idahoans were impressed by my talent. haha. Then I just wanted to throw up. But it was totally worth it. I felt like a champion."

My son, the Baconator. Makes a mother proud. Is this how Kobayashi got started?

The work goes forward despite the crazy missionaries.

Brace Yourself

Before... After
I got my braces off. Can I get a woo-hoo!
After 12 months of Invisalign and 12 weeks of braces, my pearly whites are straight.
Oh happy day. If you are on the fence about adult orthodontia, you should go for it. It is worth the time, effort and expense. Now, please excuse me while I go eat some corn on the cob, popcorn and carmels.

Shoesday

I've been hanging on to this pair of sandals but I encountered the same issue of kitten heel no ankle support. Remember these.
So I sent them both out to the Midwest to be enjoyed by cute Christie.
Besides my sisters and nieces, my friends from the hood and Guam are wearing my old favorites.
Leave a comment and you too can join the Sisterhood of the Traveling Shoes. The pink pair are the traveling sandals. If you are a size 9 you are a contender.
Shoesday is going global.
