I'm a little bit country...with my turquoise belt and cow/giraffe print shoes.

Don't you just love pockets?

Shoesday

When Jordan came home from his mission this past summer, I was of course obsessed with what to wear. I decided that these shoes were perfect for the big event. They are bright, shiny and fabulous.

Imagine my dismay when my missionary son asked if those were World War II symbols adorning my favorite shoes. I feel like one of the masses following blindly after a symbol.
I will not be wearing these with my military jacket.

Shoesday

In honor of my birthday month I am sporting deep sapphire polish.
My obsession with the zebra thing continues.
It is slightly disturbing that these sandals are labeled "leather/real fur upper."
What kind of animal fur are they? I don't really want to think about it...
The real question is...are zebras white with black stripes or black with white stripes?
I really do love the rose gold in-soles.

Fashion Friday

This post is in response to a question I got about how to wear zebra print shoes.
First of all, animal print is a neutral. It goes with everything. Just treat zebra like a black shoe.
Outfit number one is obvious.
Grey tee with black embellishment + skinny jeans + zebra flats.

Outfit number two contains no black aside from the shoes.
Cream tank + turquoise cardigan + trouser jeans + zebra flats.
The orange necklace adds a pop of color just in case the sweater isn't bright enough.

Outfit number three
cream screen print tee + coral cardi + boy friend jeans + zebra flats

Outfit number four is easy.
Black tee + hot pink cardi + boy friend jeans + black belt + black necklace + zebra flats.

Get your animal on.

He's Ba-ack!

The signs were made. First sighting.
First hug.

I don't want to let go of him.

Jenni arrived Wednesday night. Jordan got in Thursday morning.

Finally home.
A little alteration of the sign, then back to the airport Thursday night to pick up Evan.
Which one is the newly returned missionary?

Full house. Full heart.

Have I mentioned...

What's up with the sideways picture...
We have had an action packed month filled with lasts.
Brynn turned 18 and loves to remind us that she is an adult now.

We attended our last High School sports banquet. Brynn got an award for her good grades.
Have I mentioned she is brilliant?

Evan and Jenni came to town to participate in all the festivities.
Brynn graduated from seminary and received her valor award.
Have I mentioned that she is valiant?
Brynn graduated from High School. Have I mentioned that she is beautiful?
Look out world, here she comes.

Missionary Monday

I got a comment the other day from Connie. She invited me to visit her blog and said she had a surprise for me. When what to my wondering eyes should appear, not one but two pictures of my missionary boy.

The Idaho Boise Mission or IBM needs to be renamed the It's da Bomb Mission. Those people know how to take care of their missionaries and their mommas

Connie is my new bff.

Fashion Friday

When the Boden catalogue first showed up last fall and I got my first glimpse of this jacket it sent my heart aflutter. At $148 seriously, not gonna happen. It's currently on sale for $99. What a bargain, whatever. So you can imagine how giddy I got upon finding this inspired by Boden jacket at Marshall's for $19.99. I love when that happens.
In all honesty, this is what I wear the most.

You just can't beat a snuggie.

Shoesday

The sisterhood of the traveling shoes continues.
If you want a chance to be the next owner go here.
These shoes visited Christie first and then found their way to Thelma.
I wonder what adventures lie ahead.

Missionary Monday

Two California boys experience snow. Elder Snow and Elder B. This is what happens when they can't go out on New Year's Eve. Missionaries are easily amused.

Elder Jordan has been transferred to Nampa.

Shoesday

As far as I can remember this is the third pair of red boots I've owned in my life.
In 48 years it's my first pair of cowboy boots. I don't know what took me so long. I kinda love them with skinny jeans tucked in.

I bought them for myself for Christmas and then I acted really surprised when I opened them.

Aren't they purty. They even have a little heel. Yee haw.

Peace out.

Missionary Monday

"New Years day we went to half price dairy queen with the Garners. A family from my old area came and picked us up. He's the one that makes toe juice. Also, they now have hogwash, to beat the swine flu . hand sanitizer i think. it cracks me up."
Toe Juice and Hog Wash could come in handy since missionary work involves a lot of walking and hand shaking.
Dairy Queen is the way to Elder Jordan's heart.

Opportunity Knocks

Evan has been accepted into the Teach For America program. It is a two year commitment to teach in an inner-city school district. Evan will be a great role model for students that may not have a positive influence in their lives.
He will be teaching in Kansas City Missouri starting in the fall. If it doesn't work out, he can always be a super model.

Evan rocks!

Fashion Friday

Today we are going to play a little game called t-shirt and jeans three ways.
1. take your plain white v-neck tee + a favorite pair of dark wash jeans + some great accessories and simply add a jacket. This is an oldie but goodie. Black and white houndstooth is a classic. I usually only wear this jacket dressed up with a skirt but I like how it dresses up the basic t-shirt and jeans. You could wear this to lunch with friends or the dentist office if you are like me. 2. same tee + same jeans + same accessories + another black and white houndstooth jacket, this time in a mini-print. Another old jacket but when you roll up the sleeves then you can pretend like it is a new boyfriend jacket.
3. finally, tee + jeans + accessories + leather jacket. I like this look. It's a little bit tough suburban mom who wants to be a biker chick and a little bit feminine because of the shoulder detail and quilted yoke.
One of my fashion resolutions for 2009 was to ditch hoodies. I still wear them but I had to stop myself from buying them. I only bought one. I think that's pretty good. I needed a hoodie replacement and so cardigans and jackets have been my go to items. They look less frumpy and more polished. Next time you find yourself reaching for a hoodie, try a jacket instead.
My fashion resolution for 2010 is to be more adventurous with mixing colors. Today I wore a blue sweater, red boots and a mustard purse. I should have gotten a picture. It was daring.
Fashion resolutions are the only fun resolutions.
